There’s something instantly grounding about being surrounded by nature. Portland, Maine offered that in abundance. From the moment we arrived, it felt like the world slowed down just a little. Towering trees lined the roads, the air was crisp and clean, and everywhere I turned, I was greeted by lush greenery and the steady presence of the water.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the local botanical garden. It felt like stepping into a living painting—vivid blooms, winding paths, and quiet corners perfect for reflection. It was peaceful in a way that only a well-tended garden can be. I took my time, letting the colors and textures sink in, appreciating the care and artistry behind every planting.
During our trip we made a detour to Boston. The busy streets, historic charm, and a vibrant energy that buzzed through every neighborhood. It added a fun, urban break to our nature focused trip and gave us a taste of the city’s deep history and character.
We also carved out time to visit Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire. Nestled in the Mountains, the park was pure magic. Dramatic cliffs, winding trails, and views that stopped us in our tracks. It was the kind of place that reminded me how small we are in the best possible way.
Between the coastal breeze and the sea of green, Portland gave me space to breathe and be present. It’s the kind of place that invites you to wander, reflect, and reconnect—not just with nature, but with yourself.
Food Report
The two things that stood out on this trip were the lobster rolls that are a must in Maine and anything related to blue berries. In my case, a stack of blueberry pancakes and some blueberry ice cream.
